Obituary
On May 13, 2022, Linda Diane Sorensen (Richards) gently left this world. Linda loved fiercely, cared deeply and welcomed everyone with a hug.

Linda was born April 6,1949 in Minneapolis, MN. She is survived by Lance Sorensen, her spouse of 50 years; daughter Siri and her husband Bjorn Rolvaag (grandsons Espen and Halvor); son Neal; and siblings, Roger, Suzanne, Paul, Bobbi and Mark. She was preceded by her loving parents, Milton and Ruth Richards.

During her 36 years as a nurse at Mayo Clinic, Linda was dedicated to her patients and to supporting her colleagues. As the Pediatric Nurse Supervisor for the Mayo Eugenio Litta Children's hospital, she helped found the Mayo Clinic Pediatric Infusion Therapy Center and worked to further education for pediatric nurses and improve patient care locally and around the globe. As part of that effort, Linda traveled to Armenia and Albania in 1997 and 1998 with the non-profit organization AmeriCares, and a speaking engagement in Rome, Italy in 2005. Linda retired in 2014 but continued her passion for education and nursing through conferences.

In addition to a celebrated nursing career, Linda had many hobbies and interests that she passionately shared with family and friends. She loved gin and tonics on the patio, knitting and giving away washcloths, astronomy and baking what were known as the "perfect chocolate chip cookie." She loved anything and everything that had to do with crows. Linda's jubilant enthusiasm for Halloween was evident in her fabulously frightening decorations and annual pumpkin carving party, for which she became quite famous.

Linda also gained local celebrity status thanks to her laundry prowess. Nicknamed "The Laundry Goddess," Linda turned the drudgery of laundry into an area of expertise. She had a "laundry sanctuary," not a laundry room. If you had a stain, the Laundry Goddess knew how to get rid of it.

After retirement, Linda's adventuresome spirit inspired extensive travel to countries, including Japan, Thailand and Europe where she enjoyed river cruises with Lance. A highlight was their visit to LaRochelle, France, her ancestral home.

Linda lived a life of service and participated in many volunteer activities, including Destination Imagination (20 years), Downtown Oronoco Gold Rush committee, various roles at the Presbyterian Church of Oronoco, Girl Scouts and the Oronoco Food Shelf.

Linda lived a life of kindness, love, inclusivity and acceptance. She ended every encounter with a hug - or a free hug coupon, redeemable from any participating human being. Hug your loved ones, hug your neighbors, hug yourself - that was Linda's way. She will be tremendously missed by those who love her.

There will be a Visitation on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 5-8 PM at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes, and also one hour prior to the service. There will be a Memorial service on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11 AM at the funeral home.

I still see some classmates occasionally including Paula Berres who is living in NYC and Barb Seba Richards Brinker, my ex-sister-in-law, who lives in the MN Northwoods. Cathy Buckley Carlson found me again a couple of years ago and reunited me with the old Zane Avenue gang. Thanks Cathy!

I'm retired from working at Mayo Clinic after 36 years first as a staff RN and then as a nurse manager. My specialty is pediatrics.

My volunteer activities include: appraising for Destination Imagination at local, state and international tournaments, at our local food shelf, and as a committee member for Downtown Oronoco Gold Rush Days. This is an antique and flea market that is held the third weekend in August in Oronoco, MN.

I'm married to the same guy (Lance) since 1972 and we have a 37 year old daughter and launched 32 year old son. Our daughter is married and has one son.

Ive been working in some sort of management capacity all my working life. Property management has been the most fruitful for me. I've had opportunities to grab up a few properties of my own, these ventures also created enough capital to buy a winter home in Scottsdale, AZ, and turn my cabin into a year round lake home.

Life is a three act play, I can hardly wait to see how the last act plays out. So far...so good!

This is really fun to get updates from RHS 1967. It is so fun to see all the people that I went to school with for soo many years. It is this experience and the friends here that helped ground me for life. It is a new world now. I am married and have one daughter and 4 adorable grandchildren. I worked at North Memorial Hospital as a Nurse most of my career and have run into so many people there from Robbinsdale ! I ran into Mr. Wolf, my history teacher and got to apologize to him for not paying attention in class and told him genealogy and History are my passions now that I have retired. If anybody wants to say hi! My e-mail is enclosed. REMEMBER: LIfe is great, this is not a trial run, make the most of every day !! We have lost too many of our classmates too young. Candy

I retired from Northwest Airlines in 2005 after serving 27 years as a pilot. My wife an I moved to "The Live Music Capital of the World" (Austin, TX) in 1998. We enjoy golfing and waking up on the "Right"side of the grass......(with no snow). Congratulations on 40 years! Stay well Y'all...

Norman attended Bemidji State University and graduated with a degree in journalism in 1971. He worked various jobs throughout his life but his passion was black and white photography - especially nature, wildlife, and old farmsteads. He was a semi-professional photographer with photographs hanging in multiple galleries. He passed away in January 2014 at the age of 64.

Married to Robert, 2 kids.

I've been married to wonderful husband, Dennis, for just over 40 years. He has been retired for several years from working with Robbinsdale Schools. I am a recently retired registered nurse, and am still discovering what opportunities/adventures retirement holds for me. We have three grown children and three delightful grandchildren. My favorite hobby is community theater, where I enjoy being with friends, old and new, onstage and behind the scenes.

Like to travel and walk/hike.
Always worked in in the electrical field, first learned electricity in Henry Hagemeister's physics class. Went to Dunwoody, got an AS, then to college part time. Got my BS degree only 30 short years after high school. I spent most of my life teaching electricians and engineers. I am now the Chief Electrical Inspector at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, part of UC Berkeley. Will retire in 2020.

From Pete's cousin, Bernie:

Pete is my cousin. He has been a hermit in the desert, AZ and UT for many years now. For the last year his sister Rosemary has not been able to contact him, like she has been able to do in the past. His ex-wife Karen lives in Flagstaff.

50 year reunion:
Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend. It sounds like it will be a lot of fun and will be sorry to miss it. I will be heavily involved in the 1st round of qualifying figure skating competitions leading to the Olympics.

I really enjoyed attending the 40th; getting reacquainted with my friends from 50 years ago, getting to know others better who were just classmates back then, and had fun playing in the Alumni Band (Ron, a big thank you for letting me play 1st trombone).

It would be an understatement to say that I was never a fan of any of my school class pictures and want to thank the person who posted the picture from the 40th reunion next to it on my profile; it captures me beautifully. I have been openly living as the female that I have always been for the last 42 years. Statistically, there is a high probability that I am not the only trans person in our class - I wonder????

40 year reunion:
I feel very blessed over the last 40 years. I have loved and been loved twice. Four members of my family stood with me throughout the years; and in the last few, I have started to become reacquainted with the rest of my family. I enjoyed a 32 year career as an engineer at a large Seattle air frame manufacturer and discovered the symphony, skiing and figure skating. I currently volunteer as the treasurer of three non-profit organizations in the Seattle area.

30 year reunion:
.... even after 30 years, I believe that the majority of the class will not be ready for me .... maybe someday.

Married to David,a family practice physician, who was retired but now working part-time as hospice medical director. I have retired from my nurse practitioner position but still coordinate a large Parkinson support group. My biggest joys are our 3 year old grandson, Charlie, and our granddaughter Mae Kathryn who will turn 1 this June. Charlie and Mae's parents, our daughter, Kristina, and son-in-law Chris live in St. Paul and we see them often. Our daughter Amy teaches in a pre-school which she enjoys.
Love any time with family; our cabin on Cass Lake, traveling.
Best high school memories are wonderful friends,football games, pep fests,Y-Teens,dances, basketball games, Doug Petrie, and some great teachers including Mr. Plut and Mr. Luebke.

I've been in the banking business for the past 31 years. I married my high school sweetheart and I have been happily married for 35 years. I have 2 great kids and look forward to many grandkids.

Fifty years ago, in a galaxy far, far away ...

Doesn't it feel as though our years at RHS were indeed in a different galaxy, perhaps a different lifetime? My latest hobby is writing novels -- I published my first in late 2006. After 40 years as an Aerospace Engineer, I retired in July, 2016, and moved to Grand Marais. I plan to play more golf and write more books and also to travel a bit.

I am retired after teaching in the Hopkins School District for 36 years. It is wonderful to be able to choose how I spend my time! I have been doing a little substitute teaching and finally getting at some home projects that have been on the back burner far too long.
I help out with grandkids when needed and volunteer at my church. I joined a BSF (Bible Study Fellowship) group - something I'd wanted to do for a long time but didn't have enough time to commit to it. My husband, Jerry (St. Louis Park Class of '67), and I have two daughters - Kate and Heidi. We also have three grandchildren - Sophia, age 13, Olivia, age 7 and Owen age 4. They are truly a joy!! We traveled to Arizona and California this winter. How wonderful to get away from some weeks of winter. We don't see ourselves ever becoming snowbirds - just can't be away from the grandkids that long! In the summer I spend long hours in my garden. It is a peaceful place and I enjoy my time there.

My best high school memory is marching in the band on those cool Friday fall evenings on Mielke Field making formations under the lights and dazzling the fans! I also have dear memories of my house near RHS on the corner of 36th & Quail and the many times we returned there for gatherings with friends and family.
We now have four grandchildren; 2 boys, 2 girls. I finally get girls after 3 brothers and 3 sons. This grandparent thing is certainly the reward for old age. Now we are both retired and travel around in a second-hand motorhome. Have been to all the lower 48…. Now on to the national parks ( have been to 20).

Sax, Craig Age 71, peacefully passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021. Craig was born March 3, 1949 to the late Harvard and Marian Sax. Craig was most proud of being sober for 41 years. He lived his life by the Serenity Prayer "One Day at a Time" and considered himself a friend of Bill W - AA. Craig is survived by his brother Randy Sax, two nephews, Paul and Eric Swanman, the McDonald family, and his most valuable friend Krista Drury. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Bonnie Swanman.

Marilyn Ann (Schaaf) Pahl

Pahl, Marilyn Ann (Schaaf) 28 Mar 1949 to 25 Oct 2013 Marilyn, wife, sister, auntie and friend will be missed for her gentle kindness and her love of everyone she met. Survived by husband Raymond Pahl, two sisters Barbara Havel (Schaaf) and Kathleen Schaaf, many brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by mother Gladys (Zieba) and father William R. Schaaf. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Albert the Great, 2836 33rd Ave S., Mpls, MN 55406 on Friday, Nov. 1st, 2013 at 10:00 am. Obituary for Rebecca Beth Schiro Clement
Rebecca Beth Schiro Clement, 72, of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2021 at her home in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.

A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Rebecca was born in New Ulm, Minnesota to Ilo Krueger Schiro and John R. Schiro on February 19, 1949. She grew up in Crystal, Minnesota outside of Minneapolis and was graduated from Robbinsdale High School. She was a competitive figure skater and an accomplished artist, quilter and seamstress.

She loved history and archaeology and her chocolate chip cookies were unrivaled. Rebecca earned a B.F.A degree in graphic arts from Montclair State University in New Jersey and was a graphic designer and manager for several companies, agencies and publications including Dynix, Inc. in Provo, Utah; the Metropolitan Planning Commission in Knoxville, Tennessee; and Abbott Laboratories in Abbott Park, Illinois.

Rebecca is held in loving memory dear to the hearts of her husband, Russell Ted Clement of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; son Russell W. ;Tad &; Martin (Heidi) of New York City; daughter Blaire Joy Brush (Mitchell) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren Parker, Cooper, Rex and Emmanuelle; and brother Kip Schiro (Caalyn) of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.
