Dick Forsman
Comments
Richard "Dick" Forsman passed away in Lincoln, NE on 5/2/2019 after a painful ten-year battle with complications from abdominal necrotizing fasciitis and COPD.
He was born in Anaconda, MT in 1949, but grew up in Minnesota attending the Robbinsdale school district where he played football and baseball. Following four years of service to his country in the U.S. Marine Corps, including two tours in Vietnam, he worked primarily in human resources and labor relations for Burger King, Donovan Companies and National Car Rental.
He played slow pitch softball for the Marauders team in the Twin Cities for 14 years, but golf became his passion, Dick said, "He only worked to pay for golf." He and Terry lived on the TPC at Heron Bay in Fort Lauderdale, FL for nine years where he founded Madeline's Gift, an annual golf tournament to raise money for the five young children of a golf club employee who was murdered. They then moved into the Heritage Eagle Bend community in Denver, CO where he founded the Monday Fun Group for men and women golfers within the community of all skill levels to enjoy time with their neighbors for a quick nine holes and dinner/social hour(s).
Dick is survived by his loving wife Terry of Lincoln, NE; son and daughter-in-law, Brett and Nicole Forsman of the Twin Cities, MN; daughter and son-in-law, Kelle and Steve Bell of Denver, CO; daughter Lisa Garcia of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Emily and Kelsey Bell and Blake Garcia. The deceased is preceded in death by his mother, Fran Forsman, and brother, Bruce Forsman.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Wounded Warriors Project. A military burial will take place at Fort Snelling on June 7th at 1:15pm, please arrive at least 15 minutes early.
A celebration of life will take place at Heritage Eagle Bend in Denver, details forthcoming.
